Good morning, DMV*! It’s Wednesday, March 25.

💕 Happy 57th anniversary, mom and dad! Love you. 💕

And onto my Daily Dose: 🌸 We have arrived at puffy white, people! 🌸

I love the obsession with D.C.’s cherry blossoms. In my first few years living here, I didn’t quite get it. The peak-bloom crowds are more than I can handle. But now, I genuinely appreciate that people flock to the Tidal Basin to see our pretty pink flowers.

For those who avoid crowds: Casey Trees has a detailed map of cherry trees in D.C. (Note to Casey Trees: You should expand this map to include surrounding counties in Maryland and Virginia.)

Believe it or not, you can also check out the floral action on a live “bloomcam.”

Our streets are bursting with color. The light pink cherry blossoms. The yellow forsythias and daffodils. The pink-purple-white magnolia flowers. Soon will come the tulips and red buds.

I cherish this moment because it is fleeting.

📰 News around the DMV

🌸 Cherry blossom walk

Sam Nelson, an arborist whom I met during his gingko tree walk in D.C., is leading guided cherry blossom walks this Sunday through next Wednesday. He’s charging a little over $20 for the walks but offering a $5 discount for readers of this newsletter, if you type in this code: DailyDose.

(Margita Rushing)

Margita Rushing, 67, shared a photo from her backyard in Mclean, Virginia, of a weeping cherry tree that she says is nearly 70 years old.

“Sunday was likely its peak bloom. The short window we have with it while in bloom makes us appreciate it that much more,” she wrote in her submission.

D.C. goes all out for peak bloom. Send me your cherry-blossom selfies, pet photos and pics of themed meals, drinks and events.

* For those of you wondering: The DMV is how residents here call the D.C. region, which includes Maryland and Virginia. I’d get emails from people asking about this every few weeks. Now you know. 😉
